FilmConvert Nitrate

with Tailor-Made Film Stocks

The film stock emulations from Nitrate are based on a small handful of our favorite film stocks and are scientifically designed to provide real film looks for your footage. The nitrate analyzes the camera you shot on and “adapts the film stock to your specific camera’s color science, allowing for greater accuracy when grading.”

and Cineon Log Film Emulation

To give you further control over your final image in Nitrate, we’ve also added Cineon LOG versions for all of our original film stock emulations. That means you can tone down the contrast and saturation of our film stocks to your tastes while still retaining the real film stock colors.

with Real Film Grain

Nitrate, however, does not just overlay film grain, but rather simulates the amount of grain needed for every color and exposure of your image.

Film strip: and advanced film grain controls

Nitrate’s grain controls provide more features with our grain response curve. To adjust the look of the grain individually in the highlights, midtones, and shadows, or overall softness and saturation of grain in your image.

with authentic halation

Our new Halation feature does all this, mimicking exactly what halation looks like on film, then tracing meticulously from the light coming through in your image to choose where and how halation should behave on your image.

and Own Film Response Curve

We’ve coded complete custom curve controls for each of Nitrate’s film stocks, to ensure you can precisely achieve the look you are after. Change highlight and shadow roll-offs, or adjust the different channels to create your own film stock. Nitrate operates a complete LOG image processing pipeline, allowing you to re-expose the full dynamic range within your footage going through the grading process.
